Alice Marie Hanson, age 81, of Whitehall, died on Wednesday, August 23, 2012 in her home.

Alice was born on March 17, 1931 to Charles H. and Christine (Finstad) Williams on a farm in the township of Unity, rural Strum, WI. She was baptized in the West Beef River Church. Alice was the third born to the family, having an older brother, Clifford, and an older sister, Amy. Her father passed away when she was 15 months old. Alice lived with her mother on the farm until she was six years old. Alice moved with her family to Strum and attended the Strum Grade School, the Strum Union Free High School and was confirmed in St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Strum.

On February 14, 1948, Alice married Stanley Konrad Hanson in St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Strum.

They were blessed with two daughters, Marlys Jean (Robert) Berg and Rozanna Marie (Gary) Bejin. The Berg's have three sons and a daughter, Matthew (Donna), Robert Jr. (Kimberly), Cynthia (Gerald) Jearman and Michael (Stephanie). The Bejin's have a daughter and a son, Rachel (special friend, Tyler) and Ty.

Alice is also survived by eight great-grandchildren, Jacob, Alexis, Brendon, Nicholas, Lily, Malia, Samantha and Zack; a great-great-grandson, Mason Robert; three sisters-in-law, Patricia Hanson of Blair, Charlotte (John) Skaar of Hixton and Alice Williams of Bloomington, MN; two brothers-in-law, Chet Anderegg and Albion Warner; many nieces, nephews, friends and many special neighbors from Pigeon Falls and Whitehall. Alice is also survived by her very special friend, James Warren of Eau Claire with whom she enjoyed traveling the United States and whom also was her fierce competitor in Cribbage, Dominoes and various card and computer games.

Alice was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley, on August 25, 1997; her parents; a brother, Clifford Williams; a sister, Amy Johnson and in-laws, Art Hanson of Blair, Nora and Harold Pederson of Ettrick, Myrinne Anderegg and Elvina and Ervin Anderegg all of Blair, Esther and Ed Strauch and Fern and Erwin Schmidt all of Chicago, IL and Birdine Warner of Hixton.
The Hanson's lived in Strum, Whitehall and Pigeon Falls. Alice worked at several jobs over the years, the Farmer's Store in Eau Claire, Robbe's Store in Strum and the nursing home in Strum In Whitehall she worked at the Tri-County Memorial Nursing Home and at the Golden Age Home. In Pigeon Falls she worked at the Pigeon Falls Nursing Home for 18 years as Environmental Services Supervisor.

Alice will be remembered as a very loving and thoughtful mother who always expressed her love to her daughters and family. A child of the Depression Era, she was non-materialistic and appreciated what she had been given and earned in her lifetime. She was a planner, organizer, excellent seamstress and great cook. Alice kept an exceedingly immaculate and beautifully decorated and warm home. She loved reading and using her computer for research, e-mailing and planning trips. Everyone knew how much she loved her little girls, Marlys and Rozie. She will be greatly missed.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 28, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. in the Jack Funeral Home in Whitehall. Pastor Roger Benrud and Chaplain Kali Hayslett will officiate. Burial will be in the Osseo Cemetery in Osseo.

Visitation will be Monday, August 27, 2012 from 4-7 p.m. in the Jack Funeral Home in Whitehall and also one hour prior to the service on Tuesday.
