Amos Robert Hovey, age 88, of Pigeon Falls, died on Saturday, July 7, 2018 in his home.

Amos was born on March 11, 1930 in rural Gilmanton to Robert and Alley (Klevgard) Hovey. He married Doris Sather on May 12, 1954. Doris preceded Amos in death in 1979.

Amos served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. After his honorable discharge from the service, Amos hauled milk and farmed.

Amos is survived by his loving companion, Leona Olson; five children, Linda Korte of Independence, Gerald Hovey of Pfluggerville, TX, David (Rita) Hovey of Independence, Randy Hovey of Whitehall and Brian Hovey of Pigeon Falls; nine grandchildren, Andrea Korte, Harley Hovey, Sarah (Paul) Engstrand, Kevin (Beth) Hovey, Casey Hovey, Nicholas Hovey, Laura Hovey, Jonathan Hovey and Amanda Hovey; four great-grandchildren, Emily, Rachel, Soren and Augustus Hovey; three brothers, Vilas Hovey of Gilmanton, Delaine (Elsa) Hovey of Fridley, MN and Robert "Bobby" Hovey of Gilmanton; two sisters, Lenore Larson of Mondovi and Maryann Stark of Green Bay and his loving dog, Teddy.

In addition to his parents and wife, Amos was preceded in death by a brother, Denny and a sister, Ruth Peterson.

Memorial services will be held on Thursday, July 12, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. in the Jack Funeral Home in Whitehall with Chaplain Kevin Newell officiating. Burial with military rites conducted by the Hutchins-Stendahl American Legion Post
#191 will be in the Pigeon Creek Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery in Pigeon Falls.
