Amy Joan Johnson, age 78, of rural Blair, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 2, 2023 in the Gundersen Health System in LaCrosse.

Amy was born on March 17, 1944 in LaCrosse to Helmer and Ellen (Dahl) Tranberg.  Amy graduated from the Blair High School in 1962.  Following graduation, she married Harold Tenneson in 1963.  They settled in rural Ettrick and soon after, started a family.  Together they raised four energetic boys, Todd, Troy (Kim) Trent (Mary) and Trevor (Michelle).  Harold and Amy later divorced.

Amy held various jobs over the years but most have included her love of baking and interacting with customers.  Amy worked at the Midtown Café in Blair, later purchasing the business where she enjoyed working with so many employees who became friends.  Amy eventually sold the restaurant.  She became employed by Beach Tavern and was pinned "the best bartender in town".  Amy was also employed with the Trempealeau County Sheriff's Department as a cook, again making many lasting friendships.

Amy was an avid cake decorator and had a licensed "in-home bakery".  Many beautiful wedding and birthday cakes have gone out her door.  She was also known for her delicious bars, cookies and Christmas baking.

In 1988, Amy married Philip Johnson adding three step-children to her family; Mike (Janice) Dan (Julie) and Jenny (Bill) Lien.  Amy and Philip enjoyed many common interests over their 34 years together.  They experienced many road trips on their motorcycle and red Mustang convertible.  They even spent time working together including chores on the farm and road trips together in the log truck.

Amy held the position of clerk for the town of Preston and treasurer for the Trempealeau Valley Lutheran Church.

After retiring, Amy spent her time doing projects around the house, always changing up her décor.  She loved spending time with her friends shopping for antiques.  Amy could turn any piece of junk into a piece of beautiful home and yard décor.  She took great pride in their home and loved a beautiful yard full of bright flowers and creative pieces accenting each area of the yard.

Amy was not only known for her culinary skills and her creativity, but more importantly her kindness, compassion, friendliness and love for family and friends.  When people describe Amy, the first adjective mentioned is "Sweet", which fits her perfectly.  Her grandchildren thought so too.

Amy adored her eleven grandchildren, Kanyon (Cole), Jordan (Macy), Nathan (LeeAnn), Marissa (Matt), Trey, Arryanna (Derrick), Kendra (Nick), Josh (Jackie), Tyler (Nicole, Kelsey and Caden and her eight great-grandchildren, Kash, Kole, Harper, Addie, Benjamin, Owen, Ava and Emma.

In addition to her parents, Amy was preceded in death by a son, baby Tenneson and a grandson, Nathan Tenneson.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 9, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. in the Trempealeau Valley Lutheran Church with burial in the church cemetery both in rural Taylor.  Pastor Natalie Leske will officiate.  A luncheon and a time for fellowship will be held in the new Preston Town Hall in Blair following the services.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 8, 2023 from 4-7 p.m. in the Jack Funeral Home in Blair and also one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday.
