Amy Y. Urberg, age 99, of Minneapolis, MN, died on Thursday, August 28, 2014 in N.C. Hospice in Minneapolis, MN.

Amy Urberg was born Amy Yahr to August and Josephine Yahr in Franklin Wisconsin on May 30, 1915. She attended high school at Gale College and college at Augustana college. She married Sigurd Urberg on Jan 24, 1937 while he was attending Luther Seminary. She served as a minister's wife while raising six children. They were married for 67 years.
She loved music and studied organ at Augustana college. She played the organ in church for many years and played the piano at home for family singing. She supported music training for her children.
Together they served several churches in Wisconsin and Minnesota.
After the children left home she worked as a nurse's aide at a nursing home in Blue Earth MN. She loved knitting and knit one or more sweaters for all of her grandchildren and for some of her great grandchildren. She spent her last years knitting for Hats for the Homeless. She was preceded in death by her husband, and by two sons Sigurd and Sofus. She is survived by a sister Verda Grinde and by children Martin, Amy Guthmiller (Patty), Paul and Peter. There are 11 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren.
We will remember her with fondness.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, September 20, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. in the North Beaver Creek First Lutheran Church with burial in the church cemetery both in rural Ettrick. Pastor Elizabeth Albertson will officiate. Friends may call one hour prior to the service.
