Ann Mary Sosalla, age 92, of Whitehall, passed away at Gundersen Tri-County Care Center in Whitehall on Tuesday, December 1, 2020.

Ann was born August 28, 1928 in the Town of Montana, Buffalo County,WI to Joseph & Anna (Ressel) Karasch.  Her early education began at the country school on Montana Ridge.  She attended Parochial school and high school in Independence where she graduated in 1947.

Ann married Henry Sosalla on February 21, 1949 at St. John's Catholic Church in Whitehall.  They were the first couple to be married in St. John's Parish.  Henry preceded Ann in death on December 5, 2003.

Ann worked at the City Cafe, Variety Store, Holtan's Locker and other local businesses in Whitehall.  Ann and Henry later purchased a bar from Henry's brother, Dominic, and operated Hank & Ann's Bar for 25 years prior to their retirement.  The bar was well known for their ribeye lunches served with Ann's homemade bread and dill pickles.

Ann loved to cook and bake.  Her grandchildren will always remember her warm rice pudding, banana cream pie, coffee cakes and the cookie jar was never empty.  Holiday meals were always special at Grandma & Grandpa's house.

Ann's abiding faith was evident to all who knew her.  Her prayer book and rosary were always close at hand.

Ann is survived by three daughters, Sharon Smith of Richfield, MN, Kathy (Wayne) Lee and Becky (Tony) Lessard both of Whitehall;  seven grandchildren, Jessica (Bert) Nelson, Zach (Stephanie) Smith, Brandon (Dana) Lee, Paula Lessard, Sarah (Ben) Strom, Steve Lessard and Adam (Abby) Lessard.; eleven great-grandchildren, Marlo and Roxy Nelson, Calloway Smith, Brayden Reedy and Ava and Adelyn Lee, Riley and Averie Barka, Finley and Annah Strom and Arlyn Lessard;  a sister, Colette Sosalla  and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Ann was preceded in death by one brother, Joseph Karasch and five sisters, Victoria Marsolek, Gertrude Fischer, Dorothy Reck, Agnes Reck and Monica Pronschinske.

A private Mass of Christian burial will be held at St. John's Catholic Church with burial at Lincoln Cemetery both in Whitehall.
