Ardell D. Herried

Ardell Dean Herried, age 78, of Whitehall, passed away on Saturday, Dec. 22, 2012, in the Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center in LaCrosse.
Ardell was born on December 2, 1934 in Black River Falls to Julius and Beatrice (Wright) Herried. He married Gloria Jean Johnson on March 23, 1963 in the Chimney Rock Lutheran Church.
Ardell served in the U.S. Army from 1954-1956, where he was stationed in Puerto Rico and Cuba during the end of the Korean Conflict. He worked for Madison Silo Company, AMPI, Land O'Lakes and Larson Lumber Yard. After his retirement, he enjoyed helping others with small projects. Ardell was an active member of the Hutchins-Stendahl American Legion Post #191 and Our Saviour's Lutheran Church. For many years, he took pride in putting out the flags on veteran's gravesites every Memorial Day and Labor Day. Ardell was a lifelong Green Bay Packer fan and in recent years he followed the Milwaukee Brewers and attended several games with his family. He greatly enjoyed attending events for his children and grandchildren.
Ardell is survived by his wife, Gloria, of Whitehall; his children, Vickie (Jeff) Stalheim of Taylor, Dean (Kimberly) Herried of Rockford, MI, Roger (Leah) Herried of Necedah, Jeffery (Jennifer) Herried of Blair and Pamela Herried of Pigeon Falls; 15 grandchildren, Jacob Stalheim, Dillon, Mitchell, Jessica and Amanda Herried, Autumn, Noah, Emily, Isaiah and Jack Herried, Wesley, Morgan, Ruby and Nola Herried, Brady Johnson; a sister, Ruby Olson of Taylor; two brothers, Larry Herried of New London and Leonard Herried of Ettrick.
Ardell was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, Vernon, Clayton, Loren and his twin brother, Ardean and three sisters, Delores, Leatrice and Lorraine.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 28, 2012 in Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in Whitehall with Pastor Kris Fayhe officiatiang Burial with military graveside honors conducted by the Hutchins-Stendahl American Legion Post #191 will be in the Old Whitehall Cemetery in rural Whitehall.
Visitation will be on Thursday, December 27, 2012 from 4-7 p.m. in the Jack Funeral Home in Whitehall and also one hour prior to the services at the church on Friday.
