Arvid Sherman Bryhn, age 75, of Ettrick, passed away on Saturday, January 9, 2016 in his home, surrounded by his loving family. After a six year battle with cancer, the good Lord called him home.

Arvid was born on June 10, 1940 in rural Ettrick to Arthur and Stella (Swenson) Bryhn. He married Marjorie (Anderson) Westlie on December 12, 1959 and they later divorced. Arvid married Geneva (Beck) Curran on June 9, 1990 in the old French Creek Lutheran Church parsonage in rural Ettrick where they made their home for over 25 years.

Arvid worked for A-G Co-op Creamery hauling can and bulk milk for the farmers in the area during the 1960's. He later started working for Edward Kraemer & Sons as a dump truck driver and truck foreman until they sold the dump trucks in 1994. At that time, Arvid bought his own dump truck and started French Creek Trucking, Inc. He was also in partnership of the former A&W Bar in Ettrick.

Arvid retired in 2002. He enjoyed restoring John Deere tractors along with an Allis Chalmers which he ended up selling and shipping to the UK. He also built a ride wagon which the family enjoyed many, many rides together.

Arvid was a member of the Tri-State Two Cylinder Club, the Beaches Corner Classic Tractor Club and served on the Ettrick town board for several years. He was a past member of the Ettrick Lions Club and was a long time member of French Creek Lutheran Church.

Arvid was an avid fan of the Green Bay Packers, Milwaukee Brewers and Wisconsin Badgers.

Arvid is survived by his wife, Gen, of Ettrick; eight children, Greg (Kim) Bryhn of Ettrick, Ronda (Pat) Burke of Onalaska, Terri (Larry) Graham of Ettrick, JoAnn (Donald) Fanello of Trempealeau, Scott (Natasha) Bryhn of Trempealeau, Rob (Kathy) Curran of Rockland, Steven Curran of Blair and Jeannette (Donald) Bautch of Mindoro; fourteen grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, his mother, Stella Bryhn of Ettrick; his siblings, Karen (Jim Cornwell) Knutson of Aransas Pass, TX, Marla Onsrud of Ettrick, Steve (Vicki) Bryhn of Kasson, MN and Julie (Dave) Hanssen of West Salem; brothers and sisters-in-law, Shirley Bryhn of LaCrosse, Curtis (Charrolet) Beck of Blair, LeeDonna (Jeff) Stevens of Corpus Christi, TX, LeeAnn Beck of Eau Claire and Gloria Beck of LaCrosse; numerous nephews and nieces.

In addition to his father, Arvid was preceded in death by a baby brother, Larry; a brother Myron and four brothers-in-law, Henry Onsrud, Eugene Knutson, David and Kenny Beck.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 15, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. in the French Creek Lutheran Church with burial in the church cemetery both in rural Ettrick. Pastor Anna Sorenson will officiate.

Visitation will be Thursday, January 14, 2016 from 4-7 p.m. in the French Creek Lutheran Church in rural Ettrick and also one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.

The Jack Funeral Home in Blair is assisting the family with arrangements.
