Barbara "Barb" Ann  Amundson, age 74, of Northfield, died on Tuesday, April 2, 2019 in the Atrium Post Acute Care facility in Black River Falls.

Barb was born in Whitehall on January 1, 1945 to Ernest and Edna (Semb) Lewis.  She spent her early years in Pleasantville and the family later moved to Whitehall where she graduated from the Whitehall High School in the Class of '63 – a very tight group whose friendships never ended.  Barb went on to attend nursing school in Winona, MN, leading to a long career as a licensed practical nurse along with another group of dear friends that, to her, became family.

Barb married her high school sweetheart, Dennis Amundson, on March 27, 1965 in Whitehall.  The young couple started their family in Whitehall and eventually relocated to Northfield.  While raising four children, Barb was the official "parts runner" for Dennis, who worked as a mechanic at the garage he owned in Northfield.

Barb served on the Whitehall School Board for several years.  Once the children were older, Barb returned to nursing and worked at the Pigeon Falls Nursing Home and the Krohn Clinic Black River Falls.  Over the years, Barb and Dennis enjoyed classic car shows, long rides in the Mustangs searching for ice cream and traveling out West.

Some of Barb's hobbies included reading, painting and rosemaling, quilting,  collecting horse and elephant figurines, but her favorite collections were Ford Mustangs.  She cherished the days when she and "the girls" would go out for brunch.  Barb's greatest joy was her great-grandchildren, who would cause her to glow with an endless smile whenever they were near.

Barb is survived by her husband, Dennis; two children, Sonja (David) Erickson of Pigeon Falls and Justin (Rick West) Amundson of Chicago, IL; a grandson, Monte (Brianna) Amundson of Ettrick; two great-grandchildren, Owen and Lucy Amundson; two brothers, Richard (Bonnie) Lewis of
Townsend, MT and Donald (Nancy) Lewis of Pleasantville.

In addition to her parents, Barb was preceded in death by a son, Steven Amundson and a daughter, Wynette Giebel.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, April 6, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. in the Upper Pigeon Creek Lutheran Church in Northfield with Pastor David Christianson officiating.  Burial will be in the church cemetery at a later date.
