Beatrice LaVonne Larson, age 84, of Ettrick, died on Tuesday, January 10, 2017 in the Grand View Care Center in Blair.

Beatrice was born on June 11, 1932 in Blair to Julius and Cornelia (Melby) Engelien. Her family later moved back to French Creek, rural Ettrick, where she was raised on the family farm. Bea attended the Wayside Elementary School and graduated from the Galesville High School in 1950.

Bea married LaVerne Q. Larson on November 24, 1951 in the French Creek Lutheran Church in rural Ettrick and they were happily married for 60 years.

Bea and LaVerne farmed briefly following his service during the Korean Conflict and later moved to their home in Frenchville as LaVerne pursued a career in cheese making. Bea was a faithful member of the French Creek Lutheran Church her whole life and was active in many areas. She also enjoyed cooking, baking, co-managing the family lefse business, quilting, music, crafts and spending quality time with family and friends.

Bea is survived by her five children, Bonnie (Jack) Alderman of Tomah, Randy Larson of Galesville, Cathy (Bill) Matchey of Whitehall, Betty (Karl) Danielson of Black River Falls and Jamie (Janel) Larson of Willowbrook, IL; nine grandchildren, Jessica, Nicholas and Curtis Shattuck, Casey and Travis Reininger, Leah (Kevin) McGreevy, Graham (Nicole) Danielson, Bryn and Erik Larson; three great-grandsons, Charlie Shattuck, Lochlan McGreevy and Brooks Danielson; a sister, Janice Kampschroer of The Villages, FL.

In addition to her parents, Bea was preceded in death by her husband, LaVerne, on November 26, 2011.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 17, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. in the French Creek Lutheran Church with burial in the church cemetery both in rural Ettrick. Pastor Anna Sorenson will officiate. Friends may call one hour prior to the service.

Memorials may be directed to the French Creek Lutheran Church.
