Benedict Roy Sosalla, age 93, of Whitehall, died on Tuesday, February 7, 2017 in the Gundersen Tri-County Care Center in Whitehall.

Ben was born on February 5, 1924 in the town of Lincoln, Trempealeau County, WI to Edward and Martina (Kamla) Sosalla. He married Rosemary Kulig on June 9, 1956 at SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Independence and they celebrated sixty years of marriage together.

Ben graduated from Whitehall High School and was a life-long resident of Whitehall. He farmed his parents' farm with Rosemary until retiring from farming in 1979. He also worked for the Trempealeau County Health Care Center and Jurowski Construction. Ben was one of the early members of St. John's Catholic Church in Whitehall and was very active with the Knights of Columbus, the parish council, and as an eucharistic minister.

Ben enjoyed listening to, watching, and attending baseball games, especially those of his favorite team, the St. Louis Cardinals for over 70 years; photography and videography; listening to polka music; and playing cards and bingo. He was known for his sociable and easy-going personality and was treasured by his family.

Ben is survived by his wife, Rosemary; four sons, Barry (Deanna) of Whitehall, Brian (Lois) of Pardeeville, Randy (Jorge) of St. Cloud, MN, and Joseph of Milwaukee; a daughter, Debi Sosalla of Beaver Dam; five grandchildren, Brad Toft, Theresa (Greg) Hoffer, Ashleigh (Collin) Krawll, Ben and Tara Sosalla; two great-grandchildren Liam and Nyah Krawll; two sisters, Marie Woychik of Whitehall and Anne (Don) Gilbert of La Crosse; a sister-in-law, Colette Sosalla of Whitehall.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandparents Roy and Mary (Manka) Sosalla and Vincent and Sophia (Bautch) Kamla; his brother Adolph Sosalla and brother-in-law Edmund Woychik.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday, February 11, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. in Saint John's Catholic Church with burial in the Lincoln Cemetery both in Whitehall. Father Woodrow Pace will officiate.

Visitation will be Friday, February 10, 2017 from 4-7 p.m. at the Jack Funeral Home in Whitehall where a Christian prayer service will be held at 7:00 p.m. followed by a parish rosary. Friends may also call one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.
