Bernice Laverne Bryn, age 90, of Eau Claire, formerly of Independence, died on Saturday, March 31, 2018 in the Mayo Clinic Health System in Eau Claire.

Bernice was born on February 19, 1928 to George and Emma (Berg) Lokken. She Melvin Bryn on February 27, 1946.

Bernice was employed as a certified nursing assistant at the Golden Age Home and later at the Tri-County Memorial Hospital and Nursing Home both in Whitehall. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, doing craftwork, flowers, gardening, playing cards and board games, watching and feeding birds and squirrels. Her favorite time of the year was Christmas when she would sing Christmas carols with her family.

Bernice is survived by six children, Dennis (Penny) Bryn of Myrtle Beach, SC, Shirley Koxlien of Eau Claire, Gloria (Del) Koxlien of Pigeon Falls, Linda (Steve) Yapp of West Bend, WI, Ken (Liz) Bryn of Osceola, WI and Wayne (Aud Marie) Bryn of Norway; 14 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, Bernice was preceded in death by a daughter, Janice; an infant sister, Jeanette; a sister, Gladys Nicols and a brother, Elmer Lokken.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 7, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. in the Chimney Rock Lutheran Church in rural Strum with Pastor Lisa Watson-Hill officiating. Burial will be in the Old Whitehall Cemetery in rural Whitehall.

Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the church.
