Bertha Jane Nelson, age 84, of Blair, died on Tuesday, May 24, 2016 in the Gundersen Health System in LaCrosse.

Bertha was born on October 4, 1931 in the town of Moscow, Freeborn County, MN to Everett A. and Bessie J. (Rowland) Noble Sr. She married Verlyn Nelson on June 7, 1953 in Austin, MN. After their retirement, Bertha and Verlyn lived in Clear Lake, MN during the summer and in Mission,TX during the winter. After Verlyn's death on August 31, 2014, Bertha spent the summer months with her sister, Mary Ann Uecker, in Blair and in the winter lived with her daughter, Wendy, in Peoria, AZ.

Bertha enjoyed embroidery, sewing on plastic canvas, crocheting, camping and fishing.

Bertha is survived by three children, Wendy (Michael) Conlin of Peoria, AZ, Timothy (Pamela) Nelson of Glenrock, WY and Brenda (William) Johnson of Russian Mission, AK; ten grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, six sisters, Mary Ann Uecker of Blair, Freda Westcott of Oelwein, IA, Ethel (Bill) Sandidge of Galesburg, IL, Alice Henthorn of Black River Falls, Helen (Phillip) Johnson and Carrie Smith both of Austin, MN; two brothers, John H. Noble Sr. of Crosby, MN and Charles Noble of Black River Falls.

In addition to her parents and husband, Bertha was preceded in death by two brothers, Earl and Everett Noble Jr.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 28, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. in Blair Lutheran Church West in Blair with Pastor Barbara Bruneau officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the service.

Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, May 31, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. in the Holmesville Cemetery in Detroit Lakes, MN.

The Jack Funeral Home in Blair is assisting the family with arrangements.
