Carol Jean Massman Dickhaut, age 74, died peacefully on July 16, 2021 in Parker, CO.

Carol, or Jeannie as many also knew her, is survived by her husband, Friedrich (Fred) Dickhaut, her daughter and son-in-law, Rosie and Dean Ruonavar and her grandchildren, Kathleen and Kevin Ruonavar.

Carol was born on August 18, 1946 in Des Moines, Iowa to Robert and Leona Massman.  She grew up in Redwood City, California and graduated from San Carlos High School in 1964.  In 1969, she married Fred, her husband of 52 years.  Soon after, the couple welcomed their only child, Rosie, and moved to Wisconsin to be near family in Taylor and to run their own farm.  After several years, she and her family returned to the San Francisco Bay area where they stayed for many years.  Upon retiring from secretarial work within public schools and Stanford University, she and her husband moved to very northern California and then to Colorado to be near their daughter, son-in-law and grandchildren.  Together, they created a true multi-generational home where all could be part of each others' everyday lives.

Carol Jean is remembered as a kind and generous person who made a difference to those who knew her.  She delighted others with her genuine care and thoughtfulness.  She is also known for her creativity and crafting skills in the area of stamping and paper crafts.  Her studio space was among her favorite places.

Graveside services will be held on Saturday, July 24, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. in the Trempealeau Valley Lutheran Cemetery in rural Taylor.  Pastor Natalie Leske will officiate. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Carol Jean's life.  Condolences can be sent to rosieruonavar@yahoo.com . At the family's request, any flowers should be sent to the gravesite and not directly to the family.
