Carol Mae Helstad, age 80, of rural Whitehall, died on Saturday, December 10, 2022 in her home.

Carol was born on November 19, 1942 in Whitehall to Hiram and Ella (Hanson) Holstad.  She married Verdell O. Helstad on January 18, 1964 in Whitehall.  Verdell preceded Carol in death on July 31, 2021.

Carol was employed at the John O. Melby & Co. Bank in Whitehall as a bank teller for over twenty years and had other employment as a bookkeeper.  She loved to read, spend time with family, play cards, do word puzzles, watch old movies and watch sports.  Carol was a huge Packer and Badger fan.

Carol is survived by two daughters, Lori (Mark) Waldera and Renae (Scott) Stendahl; three grandchildren, Katelyn (D.J.) Johnson, Charles Larson and Jack Waldera; three great-grandchildren, Taylor, Brayden and Haylee Johnson; two sisters, Barb (Howard) Olson and Lois Neperud; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to her parents and husband, Carol was preceded in death by two brothers, Jerry and Rickey Holstad Sr.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, December 16, 2022 at 3:00 p.m. in the Jack Funeral Home in Whitehall.  Pastor Peter Jonas will officiate.

Friends may call from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service.

Burial will be in the Lincoln Cemetery in Whitehall at a later date.
