David Robert Baus, age 67, of Whitehall, died on Thursday, December 4, 2014 in the Gundersen Health System in LaCrosse.


David was born on March 5, 1947 in Sheboygan, WI to Valentine and Alvera (Abler) Baus. He graduated from the Kiel High School in 1965 and the University of Marquette in 1969. David married Catherine Benzschawel on June 5, 1971 in Thorp.

David was a retired lifelong community banker for 33 years. He served as President of the Board for the Country Club, was a member of the Chamber of Commerce, and a large contributor to the Janesville business community. He held various executive leadership roles in West Bend, Janesville, Chilton, Whitehall (WI) and Hanover (IL) areas.

David's pride and joy were his wife Cathi of 43 years, four sons and their loved ones. He was an avid golfer and a fan of the Dubuque Colts, Marquette Golden Eagles, the Green Bay Packers and the Milwaukee Brewers.

In his passing, David was able to help better countless lives through the organ donor program and would like to encourage all to sign up to continue his legacy of "paying it forward."


David is survived by his wife, Cathi, of Whitehall; four sons, Chad of Chicago, IL, Brian (Susan) of Sturgeon Bay, WI, Adam (Elizabeth) of Milwaukee, WI, and Matthew of Winona, MN; four brothers, Donald (Janet) of Englewood, FL, Sister-in-law, Theresa, of New Holstein, WI, his twin, Dennis (Rhonda) of Plymouth, WI, Michael (Paulette) of Kiel, WI, and Charles (Theresa) of Sarasota, FL; and sister, Lori (David) Sladkey of Brookfield, WI along with many cousins, nieces, and nephews.


In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by a brother, Richard.


A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday, December 12, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at Saint John The Apostle Catholic Church in Whitehall. Father Woodrow Pace will officiate.


Visitation will be Thursday, December 11, 2014 from 4-7 p.m. in the Jack Funeral Home in Whitehall and also one hour prior to the service at the Church on Friday.
