David Chester Lunde, age 79, of Taylor, died on Tuesday, August 22, 2017 in the Grand View Care Center in Blair.

David was born on July 6, 1938 in Black River Falls to Chester and Laura (Berge) Lunde. At the time of his birth, they lived in Humbird where his father was a barber and they had restaurant there. When he was very young, his father purchased a farm on Underhill Road, north of Taylor. That is when David learned to drive a tractor, which was a John Deere B.

After his farming experience, his father purchased Woodhull Produce in Taylor. When David was old enough to get his driver's license, he picked up eggs at area farms for his parent's business. A short time later, his father purchased the International tractor dealership in Taylor. That is where David got his interest in Farmall tractors and held that interest the rest of his life.

David began driving school bus for Clifford Fisher as well as working at the implement. Later he purchased a milk truck from Hank Matson and hauled milk to the Taylor Creamery. After hauling milk for a few years, David sold his milk truck and went to work driving dump truck for Ed Kraemer & Sons out of Plain, WI. He did this until his retirement.

David was a 25 year member of the Taylor Fire Department and was the Fire Chief at one time.

He always enjoyed going to tractor swap meets near and far and enjoyed looking for Farmall parts and other miscellaneous antiques.

David married Darlene Arneson on June 28, 1958 in the First Lutheran Church in Blair.

David is survived by his wife, Darlene; two children, Julie (Leif) Olson and Steven Lunde; two grandchildren, Jamie (Matt) Latzke and Christopher (Katie) Olson; two great-grandchildren, Kenzie and Brayden Olson; two sisters, Elizabeth (Jerry) Hjornevik and Mary (Eugene) Berg, two nieces, three nephews, several great-nieces and great-nephews.

In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by his mother and father-in-law and a sister-in-law.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 26, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. in the Taylor Lutheran Church in Taylor with Pastor David Hendrickson officiating. Burial will be in the Rest Haven Cemetery in Blair.

Visitation will be Friday, August 25, 2017 from 5-7 p.m. in the Jack Funeral Home in Blair and also one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.
