David Conrad Sobotta, age 73, of Whitehall, was called to eternity on his 73 rd

birthday, Thursday, January 18, 2018, surrounded by his family in the Gundersen

Tri-County Hospital in Whitehall.

David was born on January 18, 1945 in Galesville, WI to Conrad and Esther

(Kokott) Sobotta. David graduated from the Arcadia High School in 1963 and

then enlisted in the United States Army National Guard.

David was employed as a custodian at various businesses and was a friend to

everyone. He had a passion for old cars, stock car racing and garden tractor

pulling. David loved to tinker with anything he could take apart. He enjoyed the

outdoors, being a grandfather, Wheel of Fortune, bowling, watching sports,

going on long walks with his past pets, (Fluffy, Tigger, Mattie and Tommy),

fishing, listening to old time music, woodworking, singing, dancing, storytelling,

watching the garden grow, snowmobiling, playing cards and going for rides.

David married Rita Mae Jensen on May 29th, 1976. They established their home

in Whitehall and together had two daughters, Sharon and Tricia.

David is survived by his wife, Rita; his two daughters, Sharon Sobotta of

Lafayette, CA and Tricia (Jeremy) Splinter of Stevens Point, WI; four

granddaughters, Esperanza and Delilah Estrada-Sobotta and Ava and Ella

Splinter; a sister, Diane Servais; aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews and nieces.

In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by his step-father, Joe

Gandera; a brother, Bob and a sister, Mary Jane. David will be sadly missed.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday, February 3, 2018 at 10:30

a.m. in Saint John's Catholic Church in Whitehall with Father Kennedy

officiating. Military rites will be conducted by the Hutchins-Stendahl American

Legion Post #191. Burial will be in Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Cemetery in

Independence.

Visitation will be Friday, February 2, 2018 from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the Jack Funeral

Home in Whitehall where a Christian prayer service will be held at 7:00 p.m.

followed by a parish rosary. Friends may also call one hour prior to the service

at the church on Saturday.

The Jack Funeral Home in Whitehall is assisting the family with arrangements.
