David Charles Warner, 75, of Pigeon Falls, passed away at the Pigeon Falls Health Care Center on Wednesday, November 22, 2017 surrounded by his family.  He was born on May 6, 1942, at Whitehall Memorial Hospital to Donald M. and Charlotte (Anderson) Warner.

Dave graduated in Whitehall Memorial High School's Class of 1960 and then served on the USS Grayback submarine in the US Navy from 1961 to 1965, spending most of those years at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii and San Diego, California.  He married Julie Ann Tomter in Pigeon Falls on February 2, 1964 and, after Dave's discharge from the Navy, the two lived in Eau Claire while he earned his Bachelor of Science, Magna Cum Laude, in three years from UWEC in 1968.  Following graduation, he worked as a manager for AT&T for 13 years in Green Bay, Ashland, Menomonie Falls and Milwaukee.

Returning to the Pigeon Falls/Whitehall area in 1979, Dave first worked as a real estate broker and appraiser before becoming the Executive Director of the Trempealeau County Housing Authority.  After serving in this role, and as a member and state officer of the Wisconsin Association of Housing Authorities, for 26 years, Dave retired in 2007.  He relished spending time at the family cabin, near Spooner, on Big Bass Lake and enjoyed golfing, fishing, hunting, traveling, sipping a perfect Korbel Brandy Manhattan (with olives), doing puzzles, cheering on the Badgers and Packers, and being with family and friends.

During his years in Whitehall, Dave was a member of the American Legion Post 191, serving as an officer at the local and county level.  As a member and officer of the Whitehall Lions Club, Dave served as Beef & Dairy Days chairperson.  He also chaired the Whitehall School District Long Range Planning Committee which culminated with the expansion of the high school Sunset campus.  Dave has been a member of Peace Lutheran Church since 1979.

Dave is survived by his wife of 53 years, Julie, and their daughters, Beth (Jan Ford) of Madison and Jill (Dave) Kreiling, and grandchildren Andi & Cory, of Kearney, Missouri; siblings, Michael (JoAnn) Warner of Spooner, Charlene (Dave) Warner-Holtfreter of Mondovi and Patrick (Sherri) Warner of Whitehall; father-in-law, Reynolds Tomter of Pigeon Falls; brother-in-law Bud (Ellen) Tomter of Watkinsville, GA; and several nieces and nephews.  He was proceeded in death by his grandparents, his parents, his sister, Kathleen, a niece, Karen Warner, and his mother-in-law, Dorothea Tomter.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 28th at Peace Lutheran Church with burial in the Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery following, both in Pigeon Falls. Pastor Mary Ann Bowman will officiate. Military graveside rites will be conducted by the Hutchins-Stendahl American Legion Post #191.  The family will greet friends at the church on Tuesday, November 28 ^th from 12:00 noon until the time of service.  In lieu of flowers, as an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be designated for the Peace Lutheran Church HVAC fund or the Pigeon Fall Health Care Center.
