Dean R. Amundson age 79 of Blair, WI died on Thursday, April 25, 2013 in the Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center in LaCrosse, WI.

Dean was born on December 22, 1933 in Dallas, WI to Ralph and Esther (Thompson) Amundson. At age 4 they moved to Ridgeland, WI, at age 12 they moved to Pigeon Falls, WI

He Graduated from Whitehall High School in 1951; He joined the Army in 1953 and was stationed in Ft. Lewis in Washington State. When Dean returned from the service he Married Helen Olson on August 17, 1957 in Zion Lutheran Church in Blair. Dean and Helen moved to Waukegan, IL for two years where he worked at U.S. Pipe, later moved to West Allis, WI where be began his career of trucking. He drove over the road for 10 years. They moved back to Blair where they built their home. Dean bought a dump truck and worked on highways. He retired in 1999.

Dean enjoyed reading steam engine and truck magazines, he enjoyed watching the barges In Trempealeau on the Mississippi. He also enjoyed the tractor pulls during the Blair Cheesefest, and going to snowmobile races in Eagle River, WI and attending Steam Engine Days in Baraboo, WI.

Dean is survived by his wife Helen of Blair, Brothers; Wayne of Tomah, David (Sharyn) of Onalaska, sister Yvonne Amundson of St Paul, MN and a niece Rachael Amundson of Denver CO.

Dean was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Roger.

Funeral Services will be held on Monday April 29, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. in the Blair Lutheran Parish West Building (Zion). Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services at the church.

Burial will follow the service at the Zion Lutheran Cemetery.
