Derek "Deek" Thomas Brekke, age 19, of rural Blair, died on Wednesday, November 6, 2013.

Derek was born on August 20, 1994 in Black River Falls to Thomas and Annette (Boe) Brekke.He graduated from the Blair-Taylor High School in 2013 and was employed with AMPI in Blair. Derek was a total outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, riding his four wheeler and driving John Deere tractors.

Derek is survived by his parents, Thomas and Annette Brekke of rural Blair; two brothers, Nathan (Tiffani) Nandory of LaCrosse and Conner Brekke at home; his grandparents, Owen and Georgia Brekke of rural Blair and Doris Boe of rural Taylor; his great-grandmother, Jean Scow of Whitehall; aunts and uncles, Sondra (Ron) Joten, Terry (Kim) Boe, Rebecca Boe, Todd (Trich) Brekke and Wendy (Rodger) Herman; many cousins, extended family and close friends.

Derek was preceded in death by his grandfather, Clifford Boe; his great-grandfather, Maurice Scow and his beloved beagle, Maggie Mae.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, November 10, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. in Blair Lutheran Church West (Zion) in Blair with Pastors Barbara Bruneau and Mark Kvale officiating. Burial will be in the Trempealeau Valley Cemetery in rural Taylor.

Visitation will be Saturday, November 9, 2013 from 2-6 p.m. in Blair Lutheran Church West (Zion) in Blair and also one hour prior to the service at the church on Sunday.

In honor of Derek, family and friends are invited to wear John Deere green to his visitation and funeral service.

He gave his heart to God and God kept it.
