Donald LaVern Foss, age 83, of Whitehall, died on Tuesday, April 1, 2014 in the Gundersen Tri-County Hospital in Whitehall.

Donald was born on November 16, 1930 in rural Whitehall to Joe and Esther (Arneson) Foss. Donald was employed as a civilian employee with the federal government in the ammunition supply division at the Fort McCoy Army Base. He later delivered lefse for the Countryside Lefse Company in Blair for many years. Donald was an avid bowler and enjoyed birdwatching.

Donald is survived by a brother, John (Janice) Foss of Knoxville, TN; two nephews, Allan (Mary) Foss of Ettrick and Dennis (Lori) Foss of Mattawan, MI; three nieces, Carmen (Victor) Daniewicz of Stevens Point, Patricia (Bruce) Foss-Benny of Havre de Grace, MD and Pam (Steven) Masterman of Gaithersburg, MD; three great-nieces, Sarah (Matt Lohse) Foss of San Francisco,  Caitlan and Erin Masterman both of Gaithersburg, MD; three great-nephews, John Foss of Royal Oak, MI, Adam Daniewicz of Stevens Point and Tyler Masterman of Columbus, OH.

In addition to his parents, Donald was preceded in death by two brothers, Stanley and Roger.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 5, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. in the Jack Funeral Home in Blair with Pastor Elizabeth Albertson officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the service.
