Donald Charles Thompson, age 88, of Blair, died on Wednesday, September 17, 2014 in the Gundersen Tri-County Care Center in Whitehall.

Don was born on December 13, 1925 to Newell and Dagna (Bergseth) Thompson. He attended grade school at the Whispering Pine School in Trump Coulee and graduated from the Blair High School in 1943.

Don worked for the State Highway Department and lived in Eau Claire until he retired in 1978 and moved to Blair.

Don loved to hunt, fish and travel and loved to go out to eat with his very special friend, JoAnn. He enjoyed dancing, bowling and liked to keep his home and flowers very nice.

Don was a life long member of the Trempealeau Valley Lutheran Church and served on many of its committees.

Don is survived by his very special friend, JoAnn Johnson of Blair and several cousins.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 22, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. in the Trempealeau Valley Lutheran Church in rural Taylor. Pastor Benjamin Ahles-Iverson will officiate. Burial will be in the Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Blair.

Friends may call one hour prior to the service.

Memorial may be designated to the Trempealeau Valley Lutheran Church or the church of your choice.
