Doris Jean Lovell, age 81, of Ettrick, died on Friday, April 24, 2020 in her home.

Doris was born on October 10, 1938 in Galesville to Everett and Edith (Bowles) Halderson. Doris attended the Gale-Ettrick High School, graduating in 1957.

Doris married Ronald "Bucky" Terpening on November 28, 1958. Together they owned and operated the Checker Grocery from 1966 to 1987. They had two children, Deborah and Timothy. After the death of her husband, Doris went on to get her CNA degree and was employed by Franciscan Skemp Healthcare System. She worked in home healthcare, retiring in 2008.

On November 28, 2001, Doris married Ernest Lovell. Together they enjoyed walks on the family's 40 acres, fishing, biking, gardening and spending time with family.

Doris is survived by her husband, Ernie; her children, Deb (Jerry) Reincke and Tim Terpening; grandchildren, Sarah (Bryan) Henneman, Matthew Reincke, Hannah and Tori Terpening; great-grandchildren, Sawyer and Parker Henneman and Henry Reincke; brothers, Louis Halderson, Jim (Norma) Halerson, Norman (Judy) Halderson, Wendell (Carol) Halderson; sisters, Isabell Braun and Helen Byrne.

Doris was an active member of Living Hope Lutheran Church in Ettrick. She also enjoyed numerous activities including playing cards and dominoes, reading, conquering Sudoku puzzles, quilting and her antique club. Doris took great pleasure tending to her beautiful flowers (and weeds!). Her true joys in life however, were her family and faith.

In addition to her parents, Doris was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald Terpening; a brother, Robert Vance; a sister, Sandra Halderson and her in-laws, Rita Halderson, Carl Braun and Bill Byrne.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Gale-Ettrick First Responders, the Ettrick Fire Department or the Living Hope Lutheran Church.

Given the current environment, arrangements are to be determined and are being handled by the Jack Funeral Home in Blair.
