Dorothy Leona Heimdahl, age 86, of rural Ettrick, died on Thursday, November 20, 2014 in the Gundersen Lutheran Health System in LaCrosse.

Dorothy was born on February 4, 1928 in Milwaukee to Walter and Martha (Erdmann) Roever. She married Omer S. Heimdahl on July 2, 1950 in Milwaukee. Omer preceded Dorothy in death on November 5, 1995.

Dorothy graduated from the North Division High School in Milwaukee and was employed with the Lane Bryant Clothing Store in Milwaukee. Dorothy was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Milwaukee and when she moved to rural Ettrick in 2000 she became a member of the North Beaver Creek Faith Lutheran Church in rural Ettrick.

Dorothy enjoyed dancing, reading, cooking, knitting and sharing her life stories with her family.

Dorothy is survived by three sons, Allen (Mary) of rural Ettrick, Dennis (Cheryl) of Ponoka, Alberta, Canada and Steven (Linda) of rural Ettrick; nine grandchildren, Heather (Mike) Moechnig, Katie (Adrian) Johnson, Jennifer Heimdahl, Kristen (Devon) Hulsman, Daniel Heimdahl, Lindsey (John) Evans, Kendall Heimdahl, Joshua (Krystal) Heimdahl and Jacob (Melissa) Heimdahl; eight great-grandchildren, Aspen, Brooks and Haakon Johnson, Molly and Aiden Moechnig, Adam and Abigail Heimdahl.

In addition to her parents and husband, Dorothy was preceded in death by two brothers, Harvey and Harold Roever.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, November 23, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. in the North Beaver Creek Faith Lutheran Church in rural Ettrick. Pastor Elizabeth Albertson will officiate. Friends may call one hour prior to the service.

Entombment will be on Monday, November 24, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. in Wisconsin Memorial Park in Brookfield, WI.
