Dorothy Ann Smith, age 81, from Chicago, moved to Black River Falls, WI in 2019, died on Monday, June 2, 2025 at the Gundersen Hospital in LaCrosse after a long hard fought battle with multiple health issues.

Dorothy was born on August 2, 1943 in Altoona, PA to Grover and Margaret (Hite) Bollinger.

Dorothy was incredibly selfless. She was very strong and gave her everything over the last 4 years in fighting tremendous health challenges. She loved just spending time with those she loved, watching movies, reading and TV, going for long drives on the backroads of Wisconsin. Spending time with her grandchildren and great grand children. She was incredibly considerate. She was very devoted to her children. Dorothy loved just sitting with her family and talking. She had such a great sense of humor and great ability to just listen. Anyone that crossed paths with her immediately felt her kindness and accepting nature.

Dorothy worked in the dry cleaning industry for over 20 years.

Dorothy is survived by a daughter, Lisa A Brefeld and her significant other, Freddie Bearfield; a son, Jason C Oneal ; five grandchildren, Kayley Smith, Craig (Genevieve) Brefeld, Michelle Garrison (Dave), Ben Ramos (Megan) and Steven Matayka (Colleen); four great-grandchildren, Felicity and Emma Brefeld, Sophia and Benjamin Garrison, a daughter-in-law, Naomi Smith and two sisters, Janet Bollinger-Caum and Nancy Shunk of Pennsylvania.

In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by a son, Ricky A Smith and several siblings.
