Douglas LaMoine Nokken, age 68, of rural Blair, passed away on Wednesday, April 3, 2024 in the Gundersen Tri-County Hospital in Whitehall.

Douglas was born on September 3, 1955 in St. Paul, MN to LaMoine George and Fern Eva (Leach) Nokken.  He married the love of his life and high school sweetheart, Kay Marie Brettingen on September 18, 1976 in LaCrosse.

Doug and Kay were blessed with 47 years of marriage, two children, six grandchildren and a life full of beautiful memories.

Douglas was a master plumber and enjoyed raising pheasants and quail as a hobby.  He took immense pride in his craftsmanship and the satisfaction of solving problems for others.  His dedication and expertise in his profession were admired by those who had the pleasure of working with him.  Additionally, his love for raising pheasants and quail brought him joy and a sense of fulfillment.  It was a testament to his nurturing nature and his ability to find happiness in the simplest of things.

Douglas's impact extended beyond his immediate family.  He was a loyal friend who treasured his relationships and was always there to lend a helping hand.  His kind heart and willingness to go above and beyond for others made him a beloved figure in his community.

Douglas is survived by his wife, Kay; a son, Jonathan; a daughter, Jennifer (Bradley) Shankey; six grandchildren, Bryce Shankey, Briar Shankey, Hannah (Peyton) Overlien, Uriah Nokken, Grace Nokken and Gavin Gaulke; his mother, Fern Nokken; three sisters, Diane (Cathy) Erickson, Sharon Wong and Roxane Nokken; a brother, Ron (Heather) Nokken and many nieces and nephews.

Douglas was preceded in death by his father, LaMoine Nokken.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 27, 2024 at 3:00 p.m. in the Blair Sportsmen's Club in rural Blair with Pastor Greg Ofsdahl officiating.  Following the service, some of Douglas's pheasants will be released. Food, music and beverages will be provided.
