Douglas Orrin Trotter, age 65, of Pigeon Falls, died on Monday, August 13, 2012 in his home.

Doug was born September 18, 1946 in Urbana, IL to Donald and Martha (Rayborn) Trotter. Doug spent most of his childhood years in New Braunfels, TX, graduating from the New Braunfels High School in 1964.

Douglas served in the United States Navy from March of 1965 to October of 1969. Most of his time was spent on a Destroyer. Doug resided in Madison, WI after his discharge from the Navy.

Doug married Linda Thorson on August 21, 1971 in the Pigeon Creek Evangelical Lutheran Church in Pigeon Falls.

Doug attended the Madison area Technical School for land surveying. He later moved to LaCrosse where he attended the University of Wisconsin-LaCrosse graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Technology in August of 1977. Doug worked at the Zablocki Veterans Administration Medical Center in Milwaukee retiring in 1999. After his retirement he worked part time for Penske Trucking and Interstate Truckers of Rice Lake.

Doug was always looking for new challenges. He earned his private pilot's license while in Madison. While in Milwaukee, he and Linda began sailing on Lake Michigan for 25 years, moving from casual sailing to racing with his
Tarten 10 Eclipse. After moving to Pigeon Falls he was a Harley fan and later traded his two wheels for four and began 4-wheeling as a hobby.
Doug is survived by his wife, Linda; an aunt, Virginia Neihus of Madison; three sisters-in-law, Avis Knutson, Mary (Bob) Johnson and Beverly (Doug) England; two brothers-in-law, Gerald Thorson and Dick (Lois) Duxbury.

In addition to his parents, Doug was preceded in death by two uncles, three brothers-in-law and three sisters-in-law.

As per Doug's request, private family services will be held. A visitation with Doug's family will be on Friday, August 17, 2012 from 3-5 p.m. at Doug and Bev England's home in Pigeon Falls.

Doug's family would like to give a special thank you to the Mayo Health System Cancer Center and the staff of the 3rd. floor Telemetry at the Mayo Health System in Eau Claire.

The Jack Funeral Home in Whitehall is assisting the family with arrangements.
