Duane Gerald Hoff, age 88, of Galesville, died on Friday, February 15, 2019, at the Marinuka Manor in Galesville.

Duane was born August 2, 1930 to Gerald and Mildred (Lewison) Hoff in La Crosse.  Growing up in a Norwegian speaking home, Duane learned English as his second language in first grade. Devotion to family and a strong work ethic was instilled in him from an early age as well as a love for retelling stories from days gone by, laughing harder each time it was told.

On April 12, 1952, Duane married Lois Lippert in the Upper Beaver Creek Lutheran Church in rural Taylor.  They have lived on their farm in Crystal Valley for 59 years. Duane worked for Schilling/Babson Brothers for 33 years as a welder/foreman, then at the age of 59, began his second career making deliveries for the Galesville Pharmacy for 22 years. People looked forward to seeing Duane's friendly smile, and if time allowed, he often got invited in to visit over coffee.

Spending time with family was important to Duane, and he enjoyed going on many motorcycle trips, hunting excursions and vacations with Lois and their family.  Duane's greatest source of pride and joy were the accomplishments of his children and grandchildren.

Duane was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Jack Hoff; his sister, Genell Holliday; granddaughter, Amy Casey (at birth); brother-in-law, Robert Kling and sisters-in-law, Barb Hoff and Susan Hoff.

Duane is survived by his wife, Lois; their three children, Connie (Roger) Andersen of Galesville; Delaine (Ken) Casey of Watertown, WI; and Randy (Cassandra) Hoff of Blair; 6 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; Ryan (Brooke) Andersen, Hailey & Charlie of Bellevue, WA; Angie Jellish & Rayna of Mukwonago, WI; Tim (Liz) Casey, Hannah & Cameron of Mascoutah, IL; Nicole (Kyle) Berg, Jordan, Annalyn, and Lucy of Lake Mills, WI; Jerrod (Sheila) Hoff of Ettrick, WI; and Amanda (Erik) Jensen, Luke & Clara of Onalaska, WI; brother-in-law, Merrill Holliday of Cornell, WI; sisters-in-law, Edith Kling of Taylor and Norma (Quentin) Koxlien of Eau Claire, WI as well as many special nieces, nephews, cousins and lifelong friends.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, February 19, 2019 in the Zion Lutheran Church in Galesville with Pastor Joseph Iverson officiating.  A private burial ceremony will be held in the spring at the Pine Cliff Cemetery in Galesville. Friends may call from noon until the time of the service at the church on Tuesday.

The family would like to thank the dedicated staff at Marinuka Manor for their compassion and love for Duane and for taking such good care of him.
