Edna Arleen (Hagen) Nestingen passed away peacefully on Friday, December 14th, 2012 at Grandview Care Center, Blair, WI while surrounded by her family. She was born on August 13th, 1925 to Theodore and Ruth (Overby) Hagen in their Pigeon Falls, WI home.
She graduated from Eau Claire State Teacher's College & began her career as a rural school teacher. She met her future husband, Myron Nestingen, while teaching at Fuller Coulee School House, rural Pigeon Falls, WI and at Huskelhaus, rural Osseo. Edna married Myron on June 6, 1948. She later taught in Trenton, ND. They returned to rural Blair where Edna taught at Valley View School. Edna farmed with Myron and raised their four children on a dairy farm outside of Blair, WI. They enjoyed 60 years of marriage.
Edna enjoyed writing, decorating her home, baking, lawn & garden work and was especially proud of the recognition she received for her efforts. In her later life, Edna took pleasure in traveling with Myron throughout the U.S., Mexico, Guatemala, and Scandinavian countries. She was active in the Zion Lutheran Church Ladies Aide, taught confirmation classes, and volunteer work.
Edna was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Myron and sister, Viola (Hagen) Lussika. She is survived by: three sons, Mark (Barbara) of Apple Valley, MN, Keith (Barb), and Paul (Lisa) Nestingen, both of Blair, one daughter, Marie (Brian) Nestingen-Heise, of Wausau, WI, three grandchildren, Brian, Laura & Ben, one step-grandson, Kenny, three great-grandchildren, Bryson, Braden, Cohen, two sisters, Thelma Start of Ocala, FL and Phyllis Marjamaki of Crystal, MN and her special friend, Sue Werlein, Taylor, WI. Visitation will be will be from 4-7 pm at Jack Funeral Home in Blair, WI on Monday, December 17 and a Christian burial service will be held at Blair Lutheran Church, West at 11:00 on Tuesday, December 18, 2012
