Our Dad was born to Frank and Anna (Hynek) Baxa in Brown County, WI on January 26, 1927 and he died on August 23, 2016 in Whitehall.

Dad was inducted into the United States Army in March of 1945 where he served in the Philippines until October of 1946.

Edward married Elaine Esidor on May 26, 1956 in Rhinelander and together they raised four children, Bill (Linda), Grace (Dick) Burmester, Bob (Sandy) and Don (Diana). They were grandparents to 12 and great-grandparents to four. They shared a love and knowledge of "good music" that included Polka, Classical, Show Tunes, Standards and Big Band. Their song was "Tenderly".

Ed had a varied career that included working for Standard Oil on a rig in the Great Lakes, as a technician at Hughes Aircraft in California and radio broadcasting in Rhinelander at both WOBT in the 1950's and then at WXPR in the early 2000's. Ed ran his own family TV and Audio store in Hartland from 1965-1985 and was proud of his technical degree as an electronic technician from DeVry in Chicago in 1954.

Dad once built a house by himself in Waupaca, wintered in Mission, TX for seven years with Elaine and lived in Whitehall at Sunrise Manor these last three years.

While raising his family, Dad enjoyed camping with them, leading Boy Scouts and participating in Toastmasters. He was a member of Hartland Rotary and the Chamber of Commerce and was a past president of WESA Milwaukee Chapter. Ed was also a member of the Dahlberg-Makris American Legion Post #7 in Rhinelander.

Edward always valued hard work and was a great provider. Dad could fix anything!

Ed was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Elaine and three siblings, Grace Gregorius, Victor and Joseph Baxa.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday, August 27, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. in Saint John's Catholic Church in Whitehall with Father Woodrow Pace officiating. Military rites will be conducted by the Hutchins-Stendahl American Legion Post #191. Burial will be in the Central Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in King at a later date.

Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.

The Jack Funeral Home in Whitehall is assisting the family with arrangements.
