Eleanore Helen Kulig, age 93, of Whitehall, died on Tuesday, February 3, 2015 in the Gundersen Tri-County Hospital in Whitehall.

Eleanore was born on February 12, 1921 in rural Whitehall to Jacob and Julie (Filla) Halama. She married Harry H. Kulig on February 22, 1943 in Independence. Together they farmed and raised their family in rural Whitehall. After moving into town, Eleanore enjoyed taking care of her grandchildren, her flowers, quilting and most of all visiting with her family.

Eleanore was a founding member of Saint John's Catholic Church and a member of its Altar Society.

Family, faith and education were the cornerstones of Eleanore's life and what she instilled into her family. She was the glue that held her family together and her greatest wish was that her family continued to stay strong and close as a unit after her passing. Eleanore had a great memory of each grandchild and great-grandchild and remembered their birthdays. She was very proud of all their accomplishments.

Eleanore is survived by five children, Fred (Linda) Kulig of Whitehall, John (Kathy) Kulig of Pigeon Falls, Jeanine (Spencer) Olson of Whitehall, Julie (Michael) Blaha of Whitehall and Steven (Rene`) Kulig of Holmen; 18 grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, a brother, Joseph Halama of Whitehall and a sister, Dorothy Leaper of Sarastoa, FL.

In addition to her parents and husband, Harry, who preceded Eleanore in death on July 31, 1992, Eleanore was preceded in death by three brothers, Rufus, Eugene and infant Frank and five sisters, Pelchie Halama, Theresa Korpal, Alvina Schlesser, Esther Skroch and Valeria Bohlinger.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday, February 9, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. in Saint John's Catholic Church with burial in the Lincoln Cemetery both in Whitehall. Father Woodrow Pace will officiate.

Visitation will be Sunday, February 8, 2015 from 4-7 p.m. in the Jack Funeral Home in Whitehall where a Christian prayer service will be held at 7:00 p.m. followed by a parish rosary. Friends may also call one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday.
