On April 9, 2016, Gerda Bertha Gertrude Vohs von Uhl peacefully departed this life surrounded by her children.

Gerda was born on January 23, 1921 in a small town in Germany to Gertrude Bertha Augusta (Krause) and Frank Heinrick Albert Vohs. The family moved to the United States in 1923 and eventually settled in the Whitehall area. Gerda received her high school diploma from Whitehall High and continued school at Lawrence Academy of Beauty Culture. After her graduation, she opened her own salon "The Uptown" in downtown Minneapolis. 1943, Gerda married Theodor Heinrick von Uhl. Together they have seven children, Karen (Wayne)Beard, Theodor (Linda)von Uhl, Heidi (David) Rybak, Ursula (Galen) Koxlien, Manfred (Danise) von Uhl, Gerhard (Penny) von Uhl and Erich (Julie) von Uhl.

Her sister Waltraut Kinson of Perry, KS survives Gerda. Seven children, 19 grandchildren, 42 great grandchildren, and 7 great great grandchildren also survive her.

In addition to her parents, Gerda was preceded in death by a brother, Heinrich Vohs and a sister, Geneva Schroeder.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 29, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. in Saint Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church with burial in the church cemetery both in rural Whitehall. Pastor Dennis L. Voss will officiate.

Visitation will be Thursday, April 28, 2016 from 4-7 p.m. in the Jack Funeral Home in Whitehall and also one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.
