Hardis Arleen Meyer, age 86, of Whitehall, died on Friday, May 24, 2013 in Gundersen Health System in LaCrosse.

Hardis was born on June 25, 1926 in Houston, MN to Theodore and Lena (Scattum) Eliason. She married James L. Meyer Sr. on May 4, 1946 in Mondovi.

Hardis and James farmed in rural Whitehall prior to moving to Turri Coulee in rural Blair. Hardis enjoyed growing flowers, puzzles, cards and bingo.

Hardis is survived by her husband, James; eight children, Jerry Meyer of Black River Falls, Judy (Carl) Shull of Branson, MO, Beverly Waldera of Blair, Marilyn (John) Berry of Flushing, MI, Katherine Martin of Westchester, PA, Kathleen (Patrick) Nelson of Waterville, IA, Terry Meyer of Taylor and Karen (Anton) Stawarz of Ettrick; 15 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and a sister, Marjorie Heike of Altoona.

In addition to her parents, Hardis was preceded in death by a son, James Meyer Jr.; a grandson, Keith Waldera; four brothers, Odeen, Irvin, Virgil and Stanley Eliason; two sisters, LaVaughn Rongholt and Madeline Klove.

Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, May 29, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. in Blair Lutheran Church West with Pastor Barbara Bruneau officiating. Burial will be in the East Bennett Valley Cemetery in rural Eleva.

Friends may call one hour prior to the service.

The Jack Funeral Home in Blair is assisting the family with arrangements.
