Helen I. Allen, AKA "Gramma", of Black River Falls, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 6, 2018 at the home of her granddaughter, Jennifer (Cory) Gust, where she resided for the past few years. Helen was surrounded with family and lifelong friends when the Lord called her home.

Helen was born on June 11, 1937 in the town of Clayton, Crawford county, WI to Tilman and Mayme (Drake) Mickelson. She married Wallace R. Allen on November 21, 1962. Wallace preceded her in death on April 15, 2004.

Helen was a caregiver her entire working career and beyond. She worked at
Black River Memorial Hospital for many years and did Home Health Care. She also cared for many children, especially her own grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was "gramma" to many.

Helen is survived by six children, Julie Skilling of Black River Falls, Kristy (Randy) Matalas of Merrillan, Brian (Amy Ring) Ring of Onalaska, Ray (Bonnie) Allen of Black River Falls, Wally Allen of Black River Falls and Mike (Helga) Allen of Milwaukee; her grandchildren, Jennifer (Cory) Gust, Amber Cornejo, Carlos Cornejo, Dustin (Courtney) Taylor, Trevor (Megan) Taylor, Courtney (Tyler) Stendahl, Jamie (Dereck Alf) Helke, Corey (Samantha) Allen, Michael (Hanna Hodge) Skilling, Barbara Allen and Steven Allen; 14 great-grandchildren, Cameron, Taylor, Logan, Peyton, Easton, Isaiah, Ezra, Braxton, Croix, Maysen, Aliyah, Kianna, Wylder and Anden; two sisters, Gladys Johnson and Margaret Peterson both of Janesville; two brothers, Paul (Darlene) Mickelson of Soldiers Grove and Alvin Mickelson of California; many nieces and nephews she loved dearly.

In addition to her parents and husband, Helen was preceded in death by three brothers, Thomas, Kenny and David Mickelson and two sisters, Louise Willger and Arlene Phalin.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, November 11, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. in the Family Worship Assembly in Black River Falls with Pastor John Cowles officiating. Burial will be in the Sullivan Cemetery in Brockway.

Friends may call one hour prior to the service.

Helen's family would like to give a special thanks to Hospice and their services, especially to two nurses, Mel and Jen. They would also like to thank Pastor John Cowles of Family Worship Assembly.
