Helen Joyce Berg, age 72, of Duluth, MN, formerly of Blair, WI, died on Tuesday, November 17, 2015 in St. Luke's Hospital in Duluth.

Helen was born on December 28, 1942 in LaCrosse, WI to Fred and Roberta (Vandenbusch) Shawley. She married Erling Berg on April 5, 1965 in the First Lutheran Church in Blair.

Helen graduated from WWTC as a Licensed Practical Nurse. She worked as an LPN at various locations over a course of 18 years including the Grand View Care Center in Blair, the Pigeon Falls Nursing Home in Pigeon Falls and St. Joseph's Hospital in Arcadia. Helen & Erling moved to Duluth, MN in September of 2005. Helen enjoyed swimming, knitting, traveling, family, holidays, reading romance novels and gambling. She enjoyed the company of a few close friends, Barbara Gaddy, Sharon Berg and Marlene Berg.

Helen is survived by her husband, Erling; three sons, Frederick (Kimberly) of Middleburg, FL, Richard "Wally" (Ronald) and Thomas (Helen) of Duluth, MN; a daughter, June (Shane) of Fairchild, WI; 14 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Helen was preceded in death by her brothers Richard and Vernon Shawley.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 21, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. in Blair Lutheran Church East with burial in the Rest Haven Cemetery both in Blair. Pastor Barbara Bruneau will officiate.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.

The Jack Funeral Home in Blair is assisting the family with arrangements.
