Henry M. Hoff, age 95 of Blair, WI died on Sunday, February 3, 2013 in the Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center in La Crosse, WI

Henry was born on May 5, 1917 in Ettrick, WI to Jens and Clara (Moen) Hoff. He married Elma Larson September 18, 1940 in Decorah, Iowa. They raised two daughters Marlene (Leslie) Mathson and Sonja (Hoff) Nezworski. Henry and Elma also raised three foster daughters Sandy, Tammy, and Jackie Smith.

Henry trapped, logged and farmed in French Creek for 25 years. He loved to coon hunt, raise hounds, fish, and deer and bear hunt.

In 1965 Henry and Elma bought a home in Blair and a cabin in Barns WI, which they owned till 2005. Fun times at the lake and trips north were shared by all. His beautiful fish and deer mounts are at woodpecker ranch, where he and Elma lived for 40 years.

Woodpecker Ranch Furs turned into full time work for him but he still found time to hunt and fish. His grandson Mark found time to go north bear hunting with him. Patrick Henry helped gramps with deer hides the last couple of years, Layne ran errands and Stacy was moral support. He and Elma wanted their rewards in life shared with the girls and grandchildren.

The bad eye sight took a toll on Henry. His walking stick, fur hat and fairness is recalled by many. It's easy to remember a dad, grandpa and friend who put others first.

God rest his worn body…. His last words "It's OK".

Henry is survived by his two daughters, Marlene (Leslie) Mathson of Blair and Sonja Nezworski of Eau Claire; four grandchildren, Layne Mathson and Mark (Sydney Schuch) Mathson both of Blair, {atrick (Deb Clare) Mathson of Taylor and Stacy Hutchinson of Eau Claire; four great-grandchildren, Reanna Hutchinson, Jessica Mathson, Casey (Alyssa) Mathson and Michael Johnson; three foster daughters, Sandy Smith, Tammy Sackett and Jackie Perner.

In addition to his parents, Henry was preceded in death by his wife, Elma, on February 12, 2012; an infant son, David Henry; a sister, Celia Hovre and four brothers, Gerald, Clarence, Carl and Clifford Hoff.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday February 9, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. in the French Creek Lutheran Church in rural Ettrick, WI. Pastor Anna Sorenson will officiate. Burial will be in the Rest Haven Cemetery in Blair. Visitation will be held on Friday, February 8, 2013 from 4 to 7 p.m. in the Jack Funeral Home in Blair and also one hour prior to the service at church on Saturday.
