Hilda Bernette Tranberg, age 92, of Ettrick, died on Sunday, February 17, 2013 in the Gundersen Tri-County Hospital in Whitehall.

Hilda was born on January 14, 1921 in LaCrosse to Helmer and Bertha (Johnson) Sexe. She attended the Hegg Country School and graduated from the Blair High School. Hilda attended college in Eau Claire where she received a degree in bookkeeping and was employed as a bookkeeper at a bank in Eau Claire.

Hilda married Oscar Tranberg on April 24, 1946 in the North Beaver Creek Faith Lutheran Church in rural Ettrick. Together they farmed for many years in Ettrick on the farm her parents built. Hilda kept the books for the family construction business.

Hilda was very active in her church. She taught Sunday School, helped with Youth High League and was an officer in the WELCA. But the most important thing in her life was family.

Hilda is survived by her children, David (Judi) Tranberg of Ettrick, Leland (Wanda) Tranberg of LaCrosse and James (Sally) Tranberg of Tennessee; a son-in-law, Terry Patten of Ettrick; nine grandchildren, Cheri, Paula, Kevin, Jeremy, Justin, Lucas, Travis, Thomas and Timothy; eleven great-grandchildren, two great-great-granddaughters; two brothers-in-law, John (Janice) and Glenn (Beverly) Tranberg; a sister-in-law, Margaret (Orvis) Anderson, many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Oscar, who preceded Hilda in death on August 18, 1989, Hilda was preceded in death by a daughter, Rosie; a granddaughter, Dawn; a sister, Cora and brother-in-law, Garven Borreson; two brothers-in-law, Milfred and Harold Tranberg and a sister-in-law, Bernice Tranberg.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 21, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. in the North Beaver Creek Parish Lutheran Church with burial in the church cemetery both in rural Ettrick. Pastor Elizabeth Albertson will officiate.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 20, 2013 from 4-7 p.m. in the Jack Funeral Home in Blair and also one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday.
