Irene Marion Kulig, age 93, of Whitehall, died on Saturday, October 6, 2018 in the Gundersen Tri-County Hospital in Whitehall.

Irene was born at home on Silver Fox Ridge in rural Independence on January 26, 1925 to Valentine and Clara (Roskos) Marsolek. She married Arthur Kulig on May 5, 1948 in Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Independence. Arthur preceded Irene in death on May 18, 1985.

Prior to her marriage, Irene was employed with Ladish Company in Milwaukee. Irene and Art farmed in the Pleasantville area prior to moving to Whitehall in 1971. Irene and Art owned and operated Art & Irene's Bar until October of 1982.

Irene had numerous jobs during her lifetime, some of which included the Tri-County Memorial Hospital Dietary Department, Western Dairyland and the Eastside Grocery.

Irene was a lifetime member of Saint John's Catholic Church in Whitehall. Her faith was very important to her as was her family. Irene enjoyed spending time time with her family, playing cards, going to bingo, traveling and breakfast at the Sunflower Café. She also enjoyed cooking and was famous for her caramel bars.

Irene loved her family and her dog, Coco.

Irene is survived by seven children, Jim (Lois) Kulig of Whitehall, Sandy (Chuck) Olson, of Janesville, Tim (Rosemarie) Kulig of Whitehall, Shirley (Jordon) Skaletski of Hortonville, Sharon (James) Jahr of Whitehall, Scott (Shelly) Kulig of Whitehall and Rick (Carol) Kulig of Osseo; her grandchildren, Jimmie (Tabitha), Stacy (Jeremy), Jamie (Victor), David (Robynn), Travis (Kristi), Steve, Candi (Samantha), Krystal, Nathan, Adam (Ashley), Rebecca (Eric), Hannah, Zachary, Angie (Tim), Andy (Sabrina), Kelley (Spenser), Jennifer (Mike), Brandon (Toni), Jessica (Tim), Paula (Andy), Chad (Erin), Tasha, Rachel and Ryan; many great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, Irene was preceded in death by a daughter, Susan; a brother, Ralph Marsolek and a sister, Bernice Filla.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Thursday, October 11, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. in Saint John's Catholic Church with burial in the Lincoln Cemetery both in Whitehall. Father Woodrow Pace will officiate.

Visitation will be Wednesday, October 10, 2018 from 4-7 p.m. in the Jack Funeral Home in Whitehall where a Christian prayer service will be held at 7:00 p.m. followed by a parish rosary. Friends may also call one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday.

The Jack Funeral Home in Whitehall is assisting the family with arrangements.
