On Sunday, January 2, 2022, a wonderful heart suddenly, without warning, stopped beating.

Janette Mae Peters Johnson was born on September 13, 1939 in Little Falls to Harrison and Violet Peters. Mom often talked about being baptized in the Cataract Mill Pond by being tipped over backward, beginning a lifelong journey of faith. At an early age, her family moved to Rogness Coulee, rural Ettrick, and she attended the Hegg School. So many stories were shared of life with her four siblings and the mischief they got into at home and walking to school.

At an early age while attending a baseball game, Janette met her future husband, Kenneth Johnson, and they were united into marriage on November 10, 1956. To their union, they had three sons and two daughters, and she was a stay-at-home mom, working one day a week collating fliers for the Arrow Shopper, and then for the UW-Extension Office SEN program.  Janette was a wonderful cook and baker, and for 26 years, she worked as a cook for the Blair-Taylor Elementary feeding countless young mouths. She retired in May of 2004 and began her final "job"…being grandma to her youngest granddaughter until Sophia entered school.

In addition to cooking and baking, Janette enjoyed quilting, word searches, putting together puzzles, and traveling with her family. Over the years, she went on vacations with her youngest daughter, as well as her sisters and brother-in-law. Many laughs and memories were made.

Janette is survived by her children: Bruce (Deb) of Taylor, Allen of Viroqua, Charles (Paula) of Taylor, Dawn (Kurt) Krueger of Marshfield and Kari at home. She is further survived by her grandchildren: Theresa, Kristina, Jessica, Brooke, Heide, Brandon, Brittany, Megan, Katrina and Sophia as well as 8 great grandchildren. Surviving also are her siblings, Roger (Judy) and Darwin (Marlene) of Blair and many, many wonderful nieces and nephews, great and great-great nieces and nephews, neighbors and friends. Janette was preceded in death by her husband, Kenny, her parents, and two sisters and brothers-in-law, Ardell (Gaylord) Tollefson and June (Allen) Moen. She is now reunited with them.

We have no words. Our hearts are broken.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 7, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. in the North Beaver Creek First Lutheran Church with burial in the church cemetery both in rural Ettrick.  Pastor Adam Arends will officiate.  Visitation will be Thursday, January 6, 2022 from 4-7 p.m. in the church and also one hour prior to the service on Friday.
