Jene A. Pientok,  age 70, passed away on Sunday, April 19, 2026, leaving behind a lifetime of stories, laughter and well-mowed grass.

Jene was born on November 18, 1955 in Whitehall to Alfred and Belva (Kleppen) Pientok. Jene lived his life exactly the way he liked to describe it: "I'm easy going!"—and anyone who knew him would agree that wasn't just a saying, it was a way of life.

Jene graduated from Independence High School in 1973 and continued his education in mechanical engineering. He later built his career in road construction as a proud member of Operating Engineers Local 139, helping pave the way for others. But his true life's work was much bigger—he had a heart that never seemed to run out of room. Whether someone needed a hand, a laugh, or just a little time, Jene was always there without hesitation.

Jene married the love of his life, Lana Guinn, on May 21, 1977 in Independence, beginning a partnership that would be the foundation of so many cherished memories. Together, they built a life centered on family, hard work and laughter.

At the center of his world was his family. He was a proud father to Jeremiah (Melissa Granlund) and Tyler (Shawna Flury), and an even prouder grandfather to McKenna, Mason, Max, Teagan, Kellan and Kendall. The grandkids could always count on Grandpa for laughter, love, a little mischief and pounds of bacon at sleepovers.

Jene found joy in the simple, meaningful things: keeping the farm in top shape, mowing with purpose (and pride), and caring for the horses and donkey he and Lana loved—alongside their beloved pets, Penny and his sidekick, Ollie. He also treasured time spent traveling with family and friends, creating memories that will live on in countless stories retold with smiles.

He is further survived by his sisters, Joann (Jim) Gunderson of Eau Claire and Judy (Edward) Fisher of DeForest; his brother, Jerry of Tomah; his brothers-in-law, Brad (Andrea) Guinn of New Richmond and Fred Guinn of Eau Claire; and his special niece, Stephanie (Tom) Kopp of Eau Claire. He is also survived by many loved nieces and nephews, including Scott, Grant, Yolanda, Matthew, Nate, Kyle, Casey and Krista; his former sisters-in-law, Linda Guinn and Marilynn Guinn; along with cousins, great-nieces and nephews, and many dear friends whose lives were better for knowing him.

In addition to his parents, Jene was preceded in death by his in-laws, Rosemary and Robert "Bob" Guinn; his sister-in-law, Debbie (Bursaw) Pientok and his nephew, Matthew Guinn.

A celebration of life will be held at the Whitehall-Lincoln Fire Station in Whitehall on Saturday, May 2, 2026 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.  In true Jene fashion, come as you are, bring your stories, and maybe take a moment to appreciate a freshly cut pasture.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be designated to the Trempealeau County Humane Society.
