Jerome "Jake" Dennis Jacobson, age 68, of Whitehall, died on Monday, September 10, 2012.

Jerry was born on October 21, 1943 in Whitehall to Truman and Alvina (Sobotta) Jacobson. He graduated from the Whitehall High School in 1962. After graduation, Jerry resided in the Whitehall area where he owned and operated Jacobson Electric. He married JoAnn Olstad on June 4, 1966 in Whitehall.

Jerry was a retired member of the Whitehall Volunteer Fire Department. He enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren, fishing at the cabin pond, four-wheeling and watching wildlife. When he was not at the cabin, you could usually find him in a Texas Hold'em game taking money from his good friends (hey, hey, hey…hey, hey)

Jerry is survived by his wife, JoAnn; three children, Michelle (Dean) Sonsalla of Whitehall, Paul Jacobson of Eau Claire and Nicky (Ryan) Metzler of Holmen; four grandchildren, Aidan and Avery Sonsalla, Kaylin and Brennon Metzler; a sister, Jane (Larry) Linse of Lake City, MN. He is also survived by other relatives and loving friends, including the wildlife that has surrounded him for the past 68 years. His love for the outdoors and wildlife will forever remain a part of the lives of all those that had pleasure of knowing him. Jake surrounded himself by family and friends, all looking for a good laugh or a game of cards.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents.

Memorial services will be held on Friday, September 14, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. in Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in Whitehall. Pastor Kris Fahey will officiate.

Visitation will be Thursday, September 13, 2012 from 4-7 p.m. in the Jack Funeral Home in Whitehall and also one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.
