John Cornell Hansen, age 70, of Whitehall, died on Sunday, July 21, 2013 in the Gundersen Tri-County Hospital in Whitehall.

John was born on November 19, 1942 in Whitehall to Verdal and Bessie (Renning) Hansen. He graduated from the Taylor High School and raised a family in Taylor with his wife, Sue (Christopherson). In 1955, John and Sue moved to Whitehall. John was the proud owner of Hansen Insurance Agency for 32 years, serving many clients and friends in the Tri-County area.

John loved spending time with his family and friends. He also enjoyed fishing and hunting and traveled many miles in pursuit of his true passion, from Canada to Florida. Most of his time in the summer was spent at the family cabin at Lake Mille Lacs in Minnesota.

John is survived by his wife of 51 years, Sue; two daughters, Gerri of Columbus, WI and Terri (Steve) of Oconomowoc; a son, Jeff (Kim) of West Salem; three grandchildren, Mitch and Meghan Hansen and Logan Wonn. His parents and one sister preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 26, 2013 at 1:30 p.m. in Our Saviour's Lutheran Church with burial in the Lincoln Cemetery both in Whitehall. Pastor Denise Anderson will officiate.

Visitation will be Wednesday, July 24, 2013 from 5-8 p.m. in the Jack Funeral Home in Whitehall and also one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday.

Because John was such an avid hunter and fisherman, memorials will be donated to youth hunting and fishing programs.
