John H. Hauge, 86, of Trempealeau and Blair passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 11, 2018, in the Grand View Care Center in Blair, where he had been a resident since 2017.

John was born in Blair on September 9, 1931 to Olaf and Selma (Knudtson) Hauge. He was baptized and confirmed at the Zion Lutheran Church in Blair. He attended rural schools and Blair High School. John enlisted in the United States Army before his senior year of high school and was a proud member of the 2 ^nd Infantry Division from 1949 to 1954. He was in Korea for two of those years receiving a purple heart and a bronze star for his service. John then spent his years working as a machinist, first in Milwaukee, then the John Deere plant in Iowa, and retiring from Thern Inc. of Winona, MN.

In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister-in-law, Palmer Hauge and Donald (Mary) Hauge; a brother-in-law, Jerome Lisowski; nephew and nieces, Bobby (Jeannie) Hauge and Mary Mathis; and long-time companion, Marian Skappel.

John is survived by two sisters; Helen Lisowski of Blair and Grace Hauge of Rochester, MN; nephews and nieces, Terry (Jill) Lisowski, Patty (Jeff) Unger, Randy (Amy) Lisowski, Mike (Tracy) Lisowski, Rochelle (Mark) Vlaj, Roxy (Craig) Wedwick, Kevin (Lori) Lisowski, and Kevin (Stacy) Hauge; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 16, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in the Blair Lutheran Church West in Blair with Pastor Ron Christensen officiating. Burial with military rites conducted by the Knudtson-Mattison American Legion Post #231 will be in the Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Blair following the service.
