John Howard Neperud, 76, of Beaver Dam WI, formerly of Pigeon Falls and Whitehall, died on Sunday, March 23, 2014 in the University of Wisconsin Hospital in Madison.

John was born June 2, 1937 in Pigeon Falls, WI to Helmer and Irene (Jacobson) Neperud.  He graduated from Whitehall High School in 1955 and served in the United States Army for two years. John married Sara Luke on July 12, 1959 in Whitehall.  His work with Briggs Transportation took their family to Madison WI, Kansas City MO, Omaha NE and finally Fridley MN.  After Briggs, John started his own company Snap'er Freightways out of Roseville MN.  Upon retirement in 1999, John and Sara began wintering in Alamo TX and in 2007, they moved to Beaver Dam to spend the summer months with family.

John is survived by his wife of 54 years, Sara and their three daughters, Julie (Jim) Solt of Omaha NE, Jill (Rick Creegan) Neperud of Saginaw MI and Stacy (Gene Swanson) Neperud of Beaver Dam;  five granddaughters, Molly and Mackenzie Solt, Kelsey Neperud and Emily and Kendra Swanson; four siblings, Patricia Abrahamson of Whitehall, Carol (Roger) Guse of Pigeon Falls, David (Janet) Neperud of Monona and Ken (Lois) Neperud of Whitehall; brother in law, David Giese of Whitehall; several nephews and nieces.

John was preceded in death by his parents, his in-laws, Wayne and Catherine (Skelton) Luke, siblings, Peter and Donald Neperud and Judy Giese and brother-in-law, Donald Abrahamson.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 28, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. in Peace Lutheran of Pigeon Falls with burial in the Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery both in Pigeon Falls.  Pastor Mary Ann Bowman will officiate.

Visitation will be Thursday, March 27, 2014 from 4-7 p.m. in the Jack Funeral Home in Whitehall and also one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.
