John William Witte, age 65, of Whitehall, died on Thursday, November 19, 2015 in the Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center in LaCrosse.

John was born on August 9, 1950 in Rochester, MN to Ardis (Nelson) and Marvin Witte.

During his childhood he lived in Chatfield, MN, Adams, MN and Callender, IA.

John attended high school in Gowrie, IA and the vocational technical school in Detroit Lakes, MN where he studied auto mechanics.

John was an automobile mechanic for many years. Most recently he drove school bus for Pape Bus Service in Whitehall, WI.

John married Karen Chamberlain in 1987 and they resided in Fergus Falls, MN before moving to Black River Falls, WI. The couple then moved to Hatfield, WI and currently reside in Whitehall, WI.

John enjoyed fishing, repairing John Deere lawn tractors, reading and spending time at their camper at Cornell Lake, WI. He immensely enjoyed time in his backyard with his best friends, Scott and Mark.

John is survived by his wife, Karen; his mother, Ardis Witte of Rochester, MN; his brother James (Sandi) Witte of Callender, IA; two sisters, Kristy (Bob) Giere of Rochester, MN and Kathy (Scott) Duffus of Tripoli, IA; his father-in-law, Fred (Marilyn) Chamberlain of Pine River, MN; his sister-in-law , Karla (Chris) Edwards of Woodbury, MN; his brother-in-law, Tim (Cindy) Chamberlain of Oak Creek, WI; nine nieces and nephews as well as his newly adopted German Shepherd, Stella.

John was preceded in death by his father, Marvin Witte; his mother-in-law, Janice Chamberlain; his niece, Andrea Witte and a series of German Shepherds, Nelson, Baily (the girl) and Baily (the boy).

Memorial services will be held on Monday, November 23, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in Whitehall with Pastor Scott Duffus officiating.

Visitation will be Sunday, November 22, 2015 from 5-7 p.m. in the Jack Funeral Home in Whitehall and also one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday.
