Kathryn (Katie) Hegge passed away peacefully on December 29, 2012 at Gundersen Lutheran in LaCrosse. Katie was born to Dr. Arthur and Marietta Meyn on August 23, 1926 in Crookston, Minnesota. She graduated from Park Falls High School in 1942. Katie married George Hegge in Whitehall, Wisconsin on June 12, 1947. Katie resided in Whitehall – a community she dearly loved – for over 60 years. After retiring from the Pigeon Falls State Bank, Katie volunteered at the Tri-County Memorial Hospital and was very involved in the local Farmer's Market as well as the Meals on Wheels program. She also served in various capacities in the Republican Party of Trempealeau County. Katie was an accomplished knitter and will be remembered by the many who received one of her handcrafted Christmas stockings or Scandinavian sweaters – true treasures! Katie enjoyed family gatherings, and was especially fond of those that occurred in Northern Wisconsin and Door County. She loved card games, especially her bridge gatherings with long time friends in Whitehall. She was preceded in death by one sister, Margaret E. Jackson, and is survived by another sister, Helen (the late Joe) Romness; two brothers, Bill (Evelyn) Meyn and Don (Dawna) Meyn; three daughters, Karen (Alan) Passow, Gretchen (Robert) Dean, Marilyn (Michael) Kounnas; two sons, Steven (Trudy) Hegge and Brian Hegge; seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren. A visitation will be held at the Jack Funeral Home in Whitehall on January 2 at 1:00 p.m. followed by a memorial service at 2:00 p.m. The Jack Funeral Home is located at 35890 South Abrams Street, Whitehall. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Tri County Memorial Hospital Auxiliary or Gundersen Lutheran.
