Duane "Tusker" Joseph Kokott, age 73, of Whitehall, went on to meet his Lord on Tuesday, July 16, 2013 in the Grand View Care Center in Blair.

Duane was born on March 18, 1940 in Whitehall to Joseph and Theresa "Tracy" (Manka) Kokott.

He was employed with the Trempealeau County Highway Department prior to his retirement.

Duane enjoyed playing basketball, football, baseball and fast pitch softball. He also enjoyed hunting, his trips to Wyoming and out west, attending hunting banquets with his friends and was an avid Green Bay Packer fan. Duane was a member of Saint John's Catholic Church, its Knights of Columbus and Whitetails Unlimited.

Duane was known for his special sense of humor and personality and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Duane is survived by two nieces, Angela (Rick) Yeske of Worland, WY and Shelly (Chad) Horstman of Bangor; two great-nephews, Robert and Jordan Horstman; a brother, Francis Kokott of Sparta; an aunt, Lucille Manka of Whitehall; many cousins and special friends.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Tuesday, July 23, 2013 at 11:30 a.m. in Saint John's Catholic Church with burial in the Lincoln Cemetery both in Whitehall. Father Tim Oudenhoven will officiate.

Visitation will be Monday, July 22, 2013 from 4-7 p.m. in the Jack Funeral Home in Whitehall and also one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday.

One of Duane's favorite quotes was, "If I'm dead in the morning, don't wake me up."
