Laurel S. Berg, age 85, of Pleasantville, WI died on Saturday, September 28, 2013 in the Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire, WI.

Laurel was born July 10, 1928 in the town of Hale, Trempealeau, WI to Theodore and Nina (Olson) Berg. Laurel married Rosemary Sielaff on November 27, 1954 in St. Paul's Lutheran Church in rural Whitehall, WI

Laurel proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.

Laurel was involved in many things in his community, he was a member of the Pleasantville Lions Club, was a volunteer fireman, president of his church council and worked for the Town of Hale after retiring from farming in 1977. He played softball and threw horseshoes. He enjoyed snowmobiling and was involved in the development of the trails now used in Trempealeau County. Laurel loved the fishing trips with his grandchildren. His stories will be missed by all who knew him.

Laurel is survived by his wife Rosemary of Pleasantville, WI; four daughters: Barbara (Steve) Van Sickle of Pigeon Falls, WI, Cynthia (Mark) Estenson of Pigeon Falls, WI, Brenda (Frank) Bautch of Independence, WI and Sheila (Robert) Klimek of Eupora, MS; thirteen
grandchildren, Daniel (Nicole) Estenson of Chippewa Falls, WI, Jason Estenson (deceased), Erin (Travis) Thronson of Pigeon Falls, WI, Kristina (Josh) Goplin of Big Lake, MN, Greg (Nichole) Van Sickle of Pitt Meadows, BC, Corey (fiancé, Lisa) Van Sickle of Two Rivers, WI, Melissa (Kole) Gamez of Arcadia, WI, Jesse (Kayla) Bautch of Whitehall, WI, Brady Bautch of Taylor, WI, Robyn Klimek of Spartanville, SC, Dustin Klimek of Greenville, SC, Casey Klimek of Greenville, SC and Lindsay Klimek of Eupora, MS;
six great-grandchildren, Emma Goplin, Elliott Estenson, Melody and Rayna Evans, Mara Thronson and Brody Gamez; eight brothers and sisters, Ethel Achilly, Ruth (Rod) Thompson, Beverly (James) Combs, Vernal (Rita) Berg, David (Janet) Berg, Phyllis (Everett) Schleef, Diane Harding, and Cathryn (Peter) Steadman.

Laurel was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, Kenneth, Lloyd, Robert, James and a grandson, Jason Estenson.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 3, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Paul's Lutheran Church with burial in the church cemetery both in rural Whitehall, WI with Pastor Dennis Voss officiating.

Visitation will be Wednesday, October 2, 2013 from 4-8 p.m. in the Jack Funeral Home in Whitehall and also one hour prior to the service at church on Thursday.
