Loren Randolph McRae, age 90, of rural Whitehall, was called home by his Savior on Tuesday, October 2, 2018.

Loren was born on April 4, 1928 in the town of Montana, Buffalo County,
WI to Randolph and Lilah (Becker) McRae. He attended grade school in Taylor and high school in Blair.

Loren married Thea Towner from Trempealeau on June 2, 1951 in the Federated Methodist Church in Trempealeau. Eventually the two settled near Whitehall. They were blessed with six children; two sons, David and Don of Whitehall and four daughters, Sheila (Wayne) Johnson of Galesville, Lori (Jim) Peterson of Blair, Lisa (Scott) Schmitt of Whitehall and Lara (Ryan) Riste of Eau Claire.

Loren drove school bus and hauled milk for several years, but his lifelong passion was farming. As a young boy, Loren worked the fields with a team of horses, but eventually traded them in for his beloved Allis-Chalmers tractors. In addition to farming, Loren invested a lot of his time and talent to the Whitehall United Methodist Church during his 56 years as a member there. Loren was an avid fan of Nascar, especially Matt Kenseth. He also enjoyed watching the news and followed politics closely.

In addition to his wife and children, Loren is survived by his brother, Gordon (Joan) McRae of Hixton; two sisters-in-law, Audrey Mades of Mindoro and Phyllis McRae of Onalaska; ten grandchildren, Nicole (Pat) Biondo of LaCrosse, Brad Johnson of Gordon, Stacy Johnson of Fort Lauderdale, FL, Adam (Mollie) McRae of Ettrick, Jared (Danielle) Peterson of Blair, Joshua (Jessica) Peterson of Eau Claire, Joel (Syndey) Schmitt and Alicia Schmitt both of Whitehall, Ryan and Dillan Riste both of Eau Claire and thirteen great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Loren was preceded in death by two brothers, Millard and Erland "Bud" McRae and two grandsons, Jesse Peterson and Nathan Schmitt.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 6, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in Our Saviour's Lutheran Church with burial in the Lincoln Cemetery both in Whitehall. Pastors Tom Elliott and Roger Dissmore will officiate.

Visitation will be Friday, October 5, 2018 from 4-8 p.m. in the United Methodist Church in Whitehall and one hour prior to the service at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church on Saturday.

In lieu of flowers, Loren would have wanted memorials to be designated to the Trempealeau County Food Pantry or the Salvation Army.

The Jack Funeral Home in Whitehall is assisting the family with arrangements.
