Lowell Edward Sommerfeldt, age 71, of Chippewa Falls, died on Sunday, April 1, 2018 in the Wisconsin Veterans Home in Chippewa Falls.

Lowell was born on August 7, 1946 in Fond du Lac, WI to Raymond Gustive and Ethel Ida (Bornick) Sommerfeldt. Lowell served two tours with the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. Lowell married Sandra Kay Lee on October 16, 1993 in Whitehall.

Lowell was employed with the forestry department in Minnesota and was later employed with Ashley Furniture Industries in Arcadia prior to his retirement.

Lowell was a member of the First Baptist Church in Whitehall and enjoyed doing bible reading and listening to sermons on the radio and television with his wife, Sandra, and discussing their love for their Lord.

Lowell enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, football, baseball, basketball, collecting stamps and leather craft, making billfolds, moccasins and other items.

Lowell is survived by his wife, Sandra; four children, Wesley (Colleen) and Steven (Jessie) Sommerfeldt, Shannon (Lyle) Kirshenbaum and Shawn (Bethany) McAlister; five grandchildren, Ethan Sommerfeldt, Stephan and Marzyna Kirshenbaum, Abigail and Brayden McAlister; a brother, Nolan (Connie) Sommerfeldt and a sister, Rachel (Roger) Wolff.

In addition to his parents, Lowell was preceded in death by an infant daughter and an infant brother.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 6, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. in the First Baptist Church in Whitehall with Pastor Rob Buhl officiating. Burial with military rites conducted by the Knudtson-Mattison American Legion Post #231 will be in the Rest Haven Cemetery in Blair.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
